How to make good friends online
I have often wondered myself, how can I make good friends online and become popular and apart of a group? I've always found it difficult myself, but with a bit of research and a bit of practice, I soon got the hang of it, so I thought it would be best, if I were to share with you my 5 Top Tips
Azzle's 5 Top Tips:
Tip 1: Conversation
I have personally found that the best way to make good friends, is to do something very rude, earwig into other people's conversations. It may be rude, but it's the best way to find out what the person's interests are, and instead of being lumbered with a bore straight away, you can be choosy with who you pick.
Once you've found your interesting person, try and join in the conversation when ever you can as if you were in it any way, and hopefully, people will talk to you as well.
Tip 2: Cold Calling
This tip isn't really one of my favourites, but others have told me that it has been successful for them, I personally haven't succeeded, but maybe it's something to do with who I am.
Find users profile's who you find appealing and add them as a friend or send them a personal message, something along the lines of:
"Hello, my name is Bob The Plumber, I was just browsing around your profile, where was your picture taken? It's very interesting."
Hopefully, you'll get a reply and spark off a great conversation and become good friends.
Tip 3: Friend's Friend's Friend
Perhaps you already have good friends online, and want to make more? Well, that's one step up the ladder already, keep your eye on your friend's updates and join in whenever possible and talk to their friends too, it's most likely that if you like your friend, then you'll like their friends too!
Tip 4: Creating threads
Think of a really interesting topic that you think other people will find interesting. It does do a bit of brain racking, I agree, but it'll come to you. Once you've thought up your topic, post a thread on a forum and hope for the best that people read and reply to your thread. If people find your thread interesting, hopefully they'll find you interesting. Don't give up if your first thread fails though, try a different topic, and even if you did succeed with your first thread, try thinking of more interesting things that'll get people buzzing.
Tip 5: Community
This tip has got to be one of my favourites. I have found, that one the best ways to make good friends online, is to join in a ready made community. You can do this by either finding a group that interests you, or find a premier fansite that really appeals to you and is based completely around user interaction so you can easily get in touch with new friends. I recommend, of course, my fansite www.TropicaPeople.com. [ED - Or use the ClubTropica chatrooms!]
Alternatively, if you are really brave, why not create a NEW community your self by making a group of your own, or if you're feeling creative, a fansite, who knows, you may get on the premier fansite list!
Azzle's Top Safety Tip:
Remember, be careful who you trust when making friends online, not everyone will be who they make out to be and always take precautions when meeting a friend online in real life. Never trust someone you meet online completely, and NEVER give out any personal information to those you suspect.
